Bedeutung der Schmierung

Lubrication is a Special Field of Science That Focuses on Study, Selection and Application of Lubricants to Reduce Friction and Wear between Moving Parts of a Mechanical System.

There Are Mainly Four Types of Lubricants with Different Applications:

  1. Solid :like Graphite, Molybdenum disulphide, Polytetrafluroethylene which are Commonly used in Spacecrafts where oils and greases cannot be used because of the need to avoid lubricant volatility/migration, and where the application requires significant temperature variation
  2. Semi-Solid: Mostly Grease which is widely used in Bearings, gears, conveyors, and chains in manufacturing plants, power generation facilities, and mining operations
  3. Liquid: like Water (limited Application),natural or synthetic oils which are widely used as Motor oils
  4. Gas: Gas lubricants are defined as low-viscosity substances used in gas lubricated bearings, which operate under hydrostatic or hydrodynamic conditions, where the film thickness may approach the mean free path of the gas, affecting the flow characteristics and boundary conditions compared to liquid lubricants.

But, In Real Technical World, Grease and Oils are usual. And it is so important to Lubricate Wherever it needs in a pre-defined time-periods. I will tell you why it is so matter to lubricate moving contacting surfaces:

  • Reduces Friction
  • Act as Protective Barrier
  • Prevents Direct Metal-to-Metal Contact (Minimize Wear)
  • Prevents Overheating
  • Less Strain
  • Smooth Operations
  • Lifespan of the Device will be Extended

If The Lubrication Process Fails, then It Will Causes Many Damages and Faults for instance Last week We got a Call from a Hospital for Their Washer Extractor’s Extreme Noise. When We Get There, we found out that the Bearings are broken but why? as you Can See in the Pictures there were Lubricated vary poorly. While they Should Lubricate it in a Monthly Basis, they did not Do it for More That 3 Months. This Cause Bearings to Brake. Although the Bearings have a limited lifespan but if they are Lubricated poorly They will not work as they should.
